From 9 April 2025, the Home Office introduced its annual update to UK visa and immigration application fees. The updated charges apply to a wide range of applications, including visas, settlement, citizenship, and sponsor-related services. While many of the increases are modest, applicants should still take note of the changes when preparing their applications.

Key Fee Changes

Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS)

  • The cost to assign a CoS has increased from £239 to £525.
  • This affects employers sponsoring Skilled Worker and Senior/Specialist Worker applicants.

Skilled Worker Visas

  • Up to 3 years (outside the UK): increased from £719 to £769
  • Over 3 years (outside the UK): increased from £1,420 to £1,519
  • Up to 3 years (inside the UK): increased from £827 to £885
  • Over 3 years (inside the UK): increased from £1,636 to £1,751

Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR)

  • Increased from £2,885 to £3,029

Naturalisation (British Citizenship)

  • Increased from £1,500 to £1,605

Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA)

  • Increased from £10 to £16
Family Visa Fees – Annual Adjustments

Applicants under family routes have also seen an average increase of around 5%:

  • Partner and family applications made outside the UK: increased from £1,846 to £1,938
  • Applications made within the UK: increased from £1,033 to £1,093

These adjustments affect spouses, civil partners, and other dependent family members applying for leave to remain or entry clearance.

What This Means for Applicants

Applicants and sponsors must ensure they are using the correct, updated fee schedule when preparing their submissions. These updates may influence application timing, especially for families or employers budgeting for multiple applicants.

Although this year’s increases are not steep across all categories, Home Office fees overall remain significant. In most cases, fees are non-refundable—even if an application is refused or withdrawn. This underlines the importance of preparing applications correctly the first time.
